Telescope

Since it was first invented by Galileo centuries ago, the telescope has been a tool and best friend of star gazers and astronomers. The surface of the moon to the rings of Saturn is all objects that have been spotted with the help of a telescope.

The telescope has evolved greatly since its invention. From Galileo’s first up to the famous Hubble telescope, they have been with us helping us learn what we now know about what is out there beyond our world.

For those that are beginning astronomers, buying the first telescope can be an exciting experience. However, this is something that needs some though and planning. Otherwise your chances of buying something substandard are great.

The first piece of advice one should take on board when buying telescopes is to not be in any kind of a hurry. Do some research on the telescope to find out what is needed? Read some telescope reviews to find out who offers the best value for money. It may seem like a waste of time but it isn’t. Some preliminary knowledge can go a long way.

The second piece of advice is to avoid the cheap telescopes. Those that are priced for less than 100 dollars are generally made for very young children. The premise with these is that they will likely be broken in 6 months time. These are not very good quality. Wait until the budget is at least 250 dollars. If this is taking forever then look into used telescopes. Saving money now will only cost later.

Finally, do not buy telescopes at toy stores or department stores. These will likely disappoint. The sales people in these stores also will likely know very little about them. Stick to name brands such as Orion and Meade telescopes. Shop only in stores that specialize in optical equipment.

A telescope is an investment. For those that want something good some time and money needs to be spent. Buying something cheap will either disappoint or end up costing more later. Research and be patient. A good telescope is worth it.
